SG.GS response to Singapore data centre fire

On Friday 14th March 2025, a small fire broke out at a WebSatMedia-owned data centre in Singapore. SG.GS leases rack space from WebSatMedia and can confirm that the fire did not originate in one of our systems.
Local emergency services attended the incident and, along with the building’s fire suppression system, successfully extinguished the fire.
All SG.GS staff in our office in the building were immediately and safely evacuated. We have since been given the all-clear to re-enter the facility and are waiting for the go-ahead to power up outed systems.
SG.GS equipment is on the floor where the fire occurred. Our disaster recovery plan is in place and we are working to reconnect any of our clients who have been impacted by the subsequent service outage.
Shawn Ang, Managing Director at SG.GS, says:
“We are aware of a fire at a data centre in Singapore at which SG.GS has a local presence. SG.GS is not the data centre owner and we understand that the fire has been put out by the building’s fire suppression system and the local fire brigade. We are working closely with teams on the ground to re-establish network connectivity to any of our affected clients.”
An email was shared with SG.GS clients earlier today.
